This is a tremendous private purchased French Model 1872 Infantry Captain Officers kepi, likely dating to the late 1870s or 1880s, hand crafted by the prestigious maker Michel Spique & Cie. of Paris. This model of kepi had a small slot at the front of the crown for attachment of a Ball tuft.
